Welcome to Ascension Parish!

DIRECTIVES FOR RE-OPENING CHURCHES
The guidelines below, given by Cardinal Tobin, apply to all churches and must be observed without exception.

  1. Cardinal Tobin continues to dispense the faithful from the obligation to attend Mass on Sunday & Holy Days.
  2. In accord with national, state and local health directives, those who show symptoms of COVID-19 or who have been exposed to an infected person are not permitted to enter the church for 14 days.
  3. Masks must be worn by all individuals while in the church.
  4. Individuals must maintain social distancing (six feet) between each person while in the church.
  5. A household may be seated together and not observe social distancing.

A household is defined as those people who have been living together under the same roof in close proximity throughout the quarantine. It does not include relative from other addressed or other extended family.

Note: There still will be a risk for anyone who attends a public Mass. Even with best health practices and strict social distancing, anyone who enters a public space should recognize there is a risk of contracting the coronavirus.

In addition, here at Ascension until further notice, these additional directives must be followed for your safety:

NOTICE
As a reminder, Cardinal Tobin has granted dispensation from in-person Mass attendance until the COVID-19 health crisis is abated. All parishioners are encouraged to avail themselves of technology to participate in the live-streaming of Mass and to remain united in prayer for our communities and beyond.

For a list of local parish livestreams, visit www.rcan.org/parishsupport and click on the “Parish Livestreams” tab. This website also allows the faithful an opportunity to exercise their stewardship of their parish and to support parishes in need.

turntomaryCHURCH BELLS
In a show of solidarity among the faithful and as a common call to prayer during this pandemic, especially for people directly affected by illness, Cardinal Tobin urges all pastors and parishes in the Archdiocese to ring church bells simultaneously at noon daily until further notice. At that time, all are urged to pray the words of the ancient prayer, "Sub Tuum Praesidium:"

Under thy protection we seek refuge, O Holy Mother of God; In our needs, despise not our petitions, but deliver us always from all dangers, O Glorious and Blessed Virgin.

Your gift to the Annual Appeal is and always will be used for the reasons intended, to serve the mission of the church and nothing more.

There are many ways to make a gift to the Annual Appeal including our website https://www.rcan.org/ways-to-give. There you can also see the areas your gift will support and learn more about our programs and ministries. Be sure to select our parish from the drop-down box under "Parish Information."

ATTENDING MASS AND OTHER PRAYERS AND DEVOTIONS VIRTUALLY? MAKE A SPIRITUAL COMMUNION:

PRAYER FOR SPIRITUAL COMMUNION
My Jesus, I believe that You are truly present in the Most Blessed Sacrament.
I love You above all things and I desire to possess You within my soul.
Since I am unable at this moment to receive You sacramentally, come at least spiritually into my heart.
I embrace You as being already there, and unite myself wholly to You.
Never permit me to be separated from you. Amen.
